When players apply real-world reasoning to the game's high-fantasy setting, Lost Ark suffers from the same problems as other fantasy RPGs. The most noticeable is the use of standard, enormous weaponry that the character models consistently brandish as though they were ordinary implements. As you may expect, the concept is not new to Lost Ark.
Several of the weapons in the game are either too difficult to use or have no real place in the game's setting based on the mythology. While their numbers may make them seem overpowering or desired, the reality and practical utility of such weapons seem questionable. For some weapon types, the level of suspension of disbelief required is just too high without using Lost Ark gold.
As the ultimate weapon, it can be found in nearly any role-playing game. In Lost Ark, though, it appears more like a man-sized shield than a weapon capable of cutting or stabbing. The Berserker class is Lost Ark's most iconic melee fighter, therefore this weapon was obviously crafted for them. It stands to reason that Berserkers would have the most intimidating-searching weapon available.
The spectator of Lost Ark, however, cannot but but wonder how practical some of the Greatsword designs actually are. Gameplay-wise, they are slower than the smaller melee weapons, and only Monster Hunter prominently features such absurd greatswords.
You would think that someone who often engages in dungeon raiding and battles against massive bosses would have something more practical than a musical instrument. A Harp being a viable weapon, however, is not too far-fetched because Lost Ark heavily emphasizes fantasy. In any case, it seems quite dubious apart from that. It's like a new kind of weapon that was added for variety's sake, and then the backstory was added later. Regardless, the type of person who will be playing the harp can be deduced in advance. To put it simply, it's a Bard who also happens to be a healer. It has been found that music and other calming noises can have a therapeutic effect. Because of this, harpists are considered a support class. Much like other support classes, they are in high demand but low demand for actual play. As a result, the weapon is not just useless in retrospect but also in terms of how players actually use it.
There's no way Light Gauntlets could ever be considered a weapon. Arm guards are a form of armour worn on the upper arm to improve one's grip when wielding a weapon; rarely has anyone in recorded history used them to kill their opponents with a flurry of punches. In light of this, the notion that battle may be conducted with nothing more than gauntlets is extremely fantastical, if not completely out of the realm of awesomeness in role-playing games.
As a result, the Striker and the Wardancer's weapon selections must be overlooked (no pun intended). They picked a weapon with a shorter melee range, despite the fact that there are many more powerful options accessible to them in the game's relatively dense and detailed mythology. Also, large targets are no match for weapons with short or dull blades.
Lucky for us, in Lost Ark, the Scrapper class makes more informed decisions about their arsenal. The Scrappers opted for the Heavy Gauntlets instead of the Striker or Wardancer. They have an intimidating appearance in battle and are slightly slower in combos than Light Gauntlets, but they also have the lowest conceivable melee range, which is a significant tactical disadvantage.
